Not to be confused with its namesake neighbor, the name of its capital, Bissau, was added to the country’s name to avoid confusion. This former Portuguese colony is now in a state of stability after major political parties have agreed to work together and put the country first before any ideology.

Heavily reliant on fishing and farming for exports, Guinea-Bissau’s economy needs a major boost to help it get right back on track.
